KABANKALAN City
The Diocese of Kabankalan has a new shepherd to lead its flock.
Bishop Louie Galbines was officially installed as the diocese’s third bishop during a ceremony presided over by his predecessor, Bishop Patricio Bauzon of Bacolod on Tuesday.
Dozens of bishops and clerics attended the ceremony at the St. Francis Cathedral in Kabankalan City, including some officials of the Apostolic Nunciature in Manila.
The bishop’s canonical installation came a day after his episcopal ordination led by Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, Manila’s Archbishop Emeritus, at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City.
Before his appointment as bishop in March, Galbines served as a priest in the Bacolod diocese for 24 years where he held vital positions, including vicar general and rector of the Sacred Heart Seminary.
At 51, he will oversee a diocese with about 30 parishes and chaplaincies serving around 800,000 Catholics.
