The WORD CONFERENCE 2018 is an apostolate of the Claretian Missionaries, Philippine Province, through its ministries: the Claretian Communications Foundation Inc. (CCFI), the Claret School of Quezon City (CSQC), and the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (IHMP). It is a response to the charism of proclaiming the WORD in the modern times as missionary servants of the word. The ministry does not limit the title missionaries to the ordained or the professed but also to all those who carry the word in their daily lives for others, teachers, catechists, parish formation teams, religious social organizations to name a few. THE WORD CONFERENCE 2018 is a formative activity to return to the centrality of the word in our daily lives.

Word Conference responds to the call of Pope Francis for everyone to: “be holy, as the Father is holy” (1Peter 1:16). In his recent exhortation Rejoice and be Glad, this is a personal call for everyone. This means to be holy in the work place or where every we find our selves to be in.

The theme of the first WORD Conference is: “The WORD… dwelt among us!” (Jn.1: 14). The theme desires to convey that the Word of God is fully alive and so proximate in us especially in these modern times. The WORD “dwelt” is not just a pitching of a temporary tent with us. But a permanent desire of the Word of God, the indwelling movement of the Word of God to be close to us in these times when we thought that the Word is not part of the modern world, or worse not significant to this modern world.

The conference desires that at the end the participants will see His glory and the fullness of truth and loving-kindness be with those who hear the word. As the passage of John 1:14 continues to say: “…we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father: fullness of truth and loving-kindness”.

This is a one-day conference. The speakers include Dr. Jose De Mesa, PhD, Fr. Alejandro Gobrin, CMF, Bro. Duane Cartujano, and Sr. Miriam Alejandrino, OSB. A reactor was also invited for each talk to deepen and share his reflections on the topic of the speaker: Dr. Ruben C. Mendoza, PhD, Fr. Wilfredo M. Samson, SJ, Msgr. Jesus Romulo Rañada, and Fr. Cristino R. Pine, OFM. The activity will culminate with a celebration of the Word in the Holy Eucharist.
