While others complain after the airconditioning unit has broken down and they have had to sacrifice sleep in a room without the cool comfort it brings, the people in Bohol take their rest in a makeshift tent.
While others complain because their food does not taste good or simply because they don’t like the way it was cooked or where it was bought, the Boholanos appreciate the relief goods they have received from generous people.
Using scraps from their destroyed homes, they are happy posting their words of gratitude as gestures of thanks for all the help they have received.
While others start frowning because they have lost their girlfriends or boyfriends or were unable to watch a movie or attend a drinking session, the people of Bohol remain smiling, creating a positive outlook and spirit while their faces are full of hope…
even if they have lost their homes…
even if they have lost their loved ones.
While others complain because they don’t appreciate their Church’s structures or they believe in their self-proclaimed certainty that they don’t have time to attend mass, the Boholanos look for ways and means to celebrate mass.
They celebrate the Eucharist outside their ruined Churches. This is a very clear attitude that shows their confidence that God is still with them. The destruction of their Churches has not shattered their faith.
I salute the Boholanos.
Their spirit is commendable.
Their faith is concrete.
