All is set for the episcopal ordination of the Archdiocese of Cebu’s new auxiliary bishop.
Msgr. Ruben Labajo will be ordained at a 9am Mass at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral on Friday, Aug, 19.
Pope Francis appointed Labajo to the post on June 23, assigning him to the titular see of Abbir maius.
At the time of his appointment, he was serving as one of the two vicar generals of the archdiocese.
As auxiliary bishop, he will assist Archbishop Jose Palma in meeting the pastoral needs of the archdiocese.
The archdiocese serves an estimated 4.5 million Catholics in more than 160 parishes.
Archbishop Palma has served as the archbishop of Cebu since 2011.
With the addition of Labajo, there will be two active auxiliary prelates serving the archdiocese including Bishop Midyphil Billones.
Cebu also has two retired auxiliary bishops, Antonio Rañola, 90, and Emilio Bataclan, 81.
