MARILAO, Bulacan – In a mass wedding held Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Parish of the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy, parochial vicar Fr. Ulysses Reyes stressed the importance of bringing one’s spouse to attend Mass and participate in parish activities as often as possible, especially on Sundays.
“Taking your spouse to Church to hear Mass and participate in different church activities, as often as you could, can do amazing things in your marriage,” said the priest. He also explained that putting God in the center of the relationship is the ultimate key to a happy, lasting marriage. “Pray together regularly as a couple,” he added.
Reyes also encouraged the newly-weds to strengthen their faith and love for each other as they grow their families.
The Marriage Encounter Prayer Community of the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy sponsored and organized a collective wedding that allowed 11 couples to embrace the married life.
“Our M.E. Community aims that every couple in our parish receives the sacrament of holy matrimony in the church,” said chair couple Ed and Ghie Moraga in an interview with CBCPNews. According to the Moragas, the community promotes “church weddings” to ensure that couples have “a deeper and more meaningful relationship with the Lord.”
In its efforts to strengthen marriages and support families, the Marriage Encounter Prayer Community of the Parish of the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy will hold its annual Marriage Encounter Weekend Seminar (Class No. 17) on Apr. 13-15 at St. Joseph House of Serenity in Meycauayan City, Bulacan.
